End of Winter, start of Spring!

On the 15th of August 2011, it snowed for the first time in Auckland since July 1939. It snowed at about 2:15 in the afternoon and I went outside at school and played in the snow. Here is a video that Mum took at home in our backyard. Today is the last day of winter and tomrrow is the first day of Spring! I am very excited! Hooray!

Last game of soccer for 2011 winter season

On Saturday it was my soccer game. 9 people came to watch me. I won the 3 games and I got 6 goals. These are some pictures of my goals. This was the last game of the winter season. Next week (Sat 10 Sep), I have prizegiving for Western Springs Football Club at midday. I am looking foward to it!

I was Harry Potter!

On Friday 19th of August, we had a Book Character Parade at Grey Lynn School. I wanted to dress up like Harry Potter. I wore a shirt, a tie, a black cape, some black glasses and I carried a wand that had flashing lights. For the parade, we walked around the court so all the parents and family could see us in our costumes. I really liked the parade.

Raksha Bandhan - a special Hindu festival

Raksha Bandhan is a special Hindu festival that celebrates the special bond between brothers and sisters. Normally on this special day, sisters tie a "rakhi" (coloured thread or string) around their brothers right hand and pray for protection ("raksha") from all evil, and brothers make a promise to their sisters to protect them from all harms and troubles. Sometimes rakhis can be tied by other people (e.g. cousins, aunts, mums). My cousin Riya (who lives in Singapore) and my other cousins in India and Auckland either sent me rakhis or came to visit to tie them on my wrist. This year, I have 5 rakhis around my wrist. Here are some pictures that my Mum took this year.

Shaan's Speech about the All Blacks

Grunt! Slam! Crash! Lots of people cheering. These are the sounds you might hear at an All Blacks Game. Today I’m going to tell you all about the All Blacks.


A scrum is when the coach yells out “Crouch! Touch! Pause! Engage!” They bend and then they put their hands up on them. They push the other players. One of the players throws the ball in. The players push the ball out of the scrum and then carry on playing.


The All Blacks wear special rugby jerseys to keep them warm. They also wear shorts and cool rugby boots. They wear black because they are the All Blacks. You can buy All Blacks jerseys at REBEL Sport. This year it is the Rugby World Cup and its going to be in New Zealand. There are only a few days to go now until the Rugby World Cup starts. I think the All Blacks are going to win. Some other teams play as well. The All Blacks are my favourite rugby team. Are they your favourite?

A Party at Otahuhu

On Saturday I had a party at Otahuhu. Kisumama (my uncle) was there. Mum went out with my Grandma then they came back. My 2nd aunty Ani Masi came at 8pm. Me and Raneel and my Grandpa went to the park when my Grandma and Mum went out. I felt better and happy because I went to the park with Raneel and my Grandpa to fly the helicopter. It flew and BOOM it went on the grass. Then my Grandpa and me and Raneel laughed"Ha Ha Ha". I had an awesome time.
